Stage 2 checklist

Hi folks. I've currently got my Cobb stage 2 stuff on the way to me and should hopefully all be here this week. I've got an Invidia uppipe in a box in my room right now, and I've got an HKS downpipe, HKS Hi-power catback, and Cobb AccessPort (02-03) on the way. Yes, I know the HKS has the blocked wastegate, but I'm not too concerned with that until I upgrade the turbo, etc so it's fine for now. Anywho, I'm wondering what else (if anything) I will need for the installation. The downpipe comes with gaskets. The UP didn't come with any. The Hi-power I am buying second hand so it won't come with any. What gaskets am I going to need, exactly? Where can I buy them from? My stock exhaust hangers should be alright but if I am hitting or anything when I install, I will probably order some Kartboys. Thanks in advance!

You should replace all the gaskets you are tampering with for new ones. They are minimal cost and will save you alot of heartache down the road. You'll need 2 for the uppipe (one for each end), 1 (or 2, depending) for the upper end of the downpipe, and 1 or two for where the dp mates to the catback. Although you can use the old gaskets for the dp to catback with no issues, I'd go ahead and replace them all.

Okay, that's what I figured. Thank you. What's the best place to buy them? It would probably be easiest for me to order them online than it would be for me to go out to a Subaru dealership and buy some.

I would suggest gruppe-s for the gaskets...thats where I got mine. Make sure to get the 2 gaskets for the uppipe b/c you don't want to have to install that twice. FYI...the hi-power exhaust has 80mm piping which is very close to 3", so 3" gaskets should work fine for that.

Yeah I have read some horror stories about the UP leaking so I am going to be very sure it's installed nice and tight when I do it so I only have to do it once. I haven't installed an UP before, but judging from directions I've found... it sounds like I've got my work cut out for me. It looks like the Gruppe-S kit has everything I need (2x UP, 1x DP, 1x cat-back, and 2x manifold... although the manifold ones will just be spare because I won't be replacing that).

Mbquarts is right. Try out Gruppe-S, or any one of the vendors on this site, they should all have them in stock. Also, while you're installing the uppipe, take your time and make sure it fits correctly...I've heard too many horror stories of people not fitting it right the first time, putting it all back together, then finding out they have a leak. And trust us, you don't want to tear it back apart to fix something you missed. If you have any more questions, feel free to post up about them. It's best to learn from others mistakes. Good luck!

Hmmm are the Gruppe-S exhaust gaskets 3" ? I was just about to order it but I emailed them prior to buying because I wanted to see if I could get rush shipping. I'm installing it this weekend (I hope) so I'd like to get them ASAP. Will the Gruppe-S exhaust gasket fit? I don't think they list the sizes on their site.

Ooh that's a good question. I'd assume they're made for 3" piping but I'm not sure. If you want it rushed I'd give them a call instead of emailing...their email can be alittle slow. I believe they're open for a few more minutes today and usually around the shop alittle longer. I'd call 'em ASAP.

Ah damn, didn't see that post til now. Must have missed them for the night. I'm not even sure if I'll be getting my cat-back by this weekend or not, so I might just order the gaskets with regular ground shipping and do stuff the next weekend. I just want to get my stage 2 stuff in

You don't have any local performance shops around your area so you don't haveto wait for it to ship across the country?
