Question sputtering sound from turbo/downpipe @ high acceleration

I installed a txs tbe, and tuned it mid 2007 with Cobb's A/P, using their ACN91 map. When I try to accelerate quickly, I hear a sputtering sound coming from the downpipe area. I hear the turbo spooling, but it doesn't sound like a clean, smooth whistle. When I start the car, there is an odor of gas, if that helps. I have read that the ACN91 map runs rich so I hope the sputtering is just that. Are the relatively newer online maps better? Any pro-tuners in San Bernardino/Orange/San Diego Counties? I've read other posts, hoping to find an answer, but no success. I'm sure someone else had this problem before.

Have you tried looking for an exhaust leak?

^ +1, def. check for the exhaust leak. switch on the car and check from the turbo back all the way to the muffler. Could be as simple as that.

does your downpipe have a hole for the egt bung? If this hole is not covered or filled with a bolt of some sort (or the egt sensor), you will definitely have a loud sputtering sound. First check to see that all the bolts are still on all the pieces.

Depending on the hardware you used, and how well you torqued everything down, the nuts could have come loose with the warm-up/break-in cycle of the new parts.
