I just picked up a 1997 Legacy GT wagon. Its in mint shape, body, interior, etc. The only flaw i can find is a whistling sound under acceleration. At first i thought it was a leak in the intake but the previous owner said he'd had that checked out. A mechanic friend of mine thought it might be a pulley, but he wasn't sure. Any ideas, I know its vague, but i'd appreciate anything.

Is it a 5MT? I have some whine that I think is coming from my gearbox at times, but it only happens in a brief speed range in fifth gear.
