Removing downpipe
I need to remove my downpipe because I am installing a Helix Catback exhaust and need to bring it to a muffler shop so that I can use my stock downpipe with the aftermarket exhaust.
They will weld on a 3" flange so that the catback will mate up with it fine.
My question.... Is it hard to remove the downpipe? I remember reading stories of problems removing it and people having to unbolt the engine and jack the engine up in order to remove the downpipe. Is this true?
If so, please explain in as much detail as possible so that I don't have any suprizes once I start this.
Thanks.

The downpipe is VERY easy... infact the entire wrx exhaust is very simple to remove.. Took me and my friend 40 mins if that to completly remove the downpipe on back. What you are thinking is the uppipe, for the engine to be jacked up... although not necessary, makes it a tad easier to get the damn pipe out.
It took us over 3 hours to remove my uppipe... what a pain in the ***.
If you go on the DIY thread you will see detailed instructions. OR if you are registered at http://www.scoobymods.com
You can read the detailed posts on how to remove everything.
It's nice because it litterly is only like 6 bolts on the downpipe itself, and the rest of the exhaust there are another 5 or so bolts...
