Rebuild Engine or swap new engine in?

I have a 2003 wrx with a confirmed blown head gasket and a possible warped/cracked head. My mechanic wants to send it off to a machine shop and needs new head bolts..
Would it be cheaper to buy a lower mileage engine than to rebuild the heads on the current 116k mile engine I have?
Anyone have experiences with buying engines from ebay or any other retailer?
I found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-Impreza-WRX-Forester-EJ205-Turbo-Engine-2-0L-Motor-2002-2003-2004-2005-/171764902791?hash=item27fdfc6b87&vxp=mtr#ht_5863wt_1104used ej205 35k miles, seems to have all the correct fixins.

PS. my mechanic wants $3,500 guestimate for rebuilding the heads, and new head bolts. (anyone else know any local Bay area shops that might do this cheaper?)
PSS. If I'm considering selling the car which direction should I go? Been on the fence about selling the car for over a month and just my luck this happened the same day I listed the car for sale.

Thanks in advance guys

give Jon a call at TrackSpec Autosports in Fremont, they can help you sort this out.

I second the call to Mert at RBMS, they do a great job and have a TON of experience building motors, and from my experience they have always had good pricing.

Quick question relating to an engine swap, are all Subaru blocks interchangeable? I either shot a rod or spun a bearing and the engine is toast in my '08 Impreza. Wondering if i have to get an ej25 or can i just bolt in a different block, pcm/ecm, etc. and go. Please help and thanks in advance!

I had a similar problem. I bought a rebuilt engine instead of a JDM engine from Used Subaru Engines | Subaru Engines

It's been running for last six months without any problems !
