Question about Turbo Timers / A-C

Hey guys,
Just purchased & received my WRX '04. Got 2 questions. The first one is the salesman said nothing about waiting after you reach your location to let the turbo cool down. Does anyone here actually wait about 3 minutes (or however long) after they finished driving to let the turbo cool down? Also my second question is with the a/c. I live in Ny and it gets pretty humid and gross in the summer. When i flip on the a/c the car drives like garbage. The clutch becomes soo hard to work with. It drives totally different and is very hard to drive smoothley when shifting. Anyone else experience this problem or have any solutions?
Thanks for your help guys.
Other then that the car is picture perfect!!!!!! This car is great.

AC is a big drain on the engine. The only real adjustment you need to drive smoothly when the AC is on is to really keep an eye on the tach. The RPMs drop a lot faster with the AC on.
Some people wait for the turbo to cool. I don't really. Just try and keep out of boost for a bit before you get home. There is something someone said about water going through the turbo by convection alone even with the car off. Supposedly you don't need to let it cool.
OH yeah, and welcome to the club... WRX's are mega fun..

Hey amtrac24 welcome to the club. The turbo timer is not necessary in our cars because the turbo is both oil and water cooled. This means that the water remains flowing through the turbo after the car is shut down due to the convection (heat) of the engine. If it was just oil cooled, then as soon as you shut off the engine, the oil would harden inside of the turbo, which is known as 'coking'. You don't want that, but you also don't have to worry about that, so a turbo timer is NOT neccesary. Save your money, also you can get more information if you do a search. Where in NY are you? Enjoy your car and drive safely

For most driving, a timer is overkill. If the car sees track (road course) use, a few minutes idling after a session might be good, although each session usually has a cooldown lap.

When I turn on the a/c I feel a power loss obviously, but I don't get the same problems that you describe. If it continues, then I would take it in to be looked at. The turbo timer question has been already answered. If its hard driving then let it sit for about a min. But if its around town, I wouldn't worry about it.

it's funny though.. sometimes if I don't let the car idle for a few when it's really hot, the next time I start the car warm, it sorta stumbles a little.. like the rpm's drop real quick for a moment after you start it, and you can hear a little stumble in the exhaust note. Not the usual smooth vrooom and steady idle ..
