Unhappy Problems in the positive boost

Hey guys....

I just started having this new prob with the Rex and I was hoping someone could give a little insight....I have a 02 WRX with 63k. Vishnu DP, Sti Exaust, Samco I/C hoses and a ZeroSports Turbo Intake pipe. When I get on the throttle now I get a fluttering noice that almost sounds like a leak in the exuast system somewhere but my worries are that the turbo is going south....I can't notice any loss of power but it worries me anyways. Anyone experience something like this? Thanks!

Without hearing the sound I can only guess, but hear goes.
Does your boost fluctuate?
Yes, a little; check wastegate, wastegate actuator and BOV spring.
Yes, a lot; check vacum lines.
No, check for leaks in exhaust after turbo, and perhaps around intake and intercooler (not as likely thought)

Thumbs up

If the boost is fluctuating I am having a hard time noticing...The gauge doesn't do anything funny...But I am gonna take it to a buddy that has a wrx also and a Hoist and check that stuff out that you said. Thanks for the quick response dr...That was great

Thumbs up Just as I suspected!!

Got it figured out....I blew out the left side exhaust manifold gasket a little bit and it is leakin there. I was noticing that the turbo didn't spool up quite as quickly... Found the leak and ordered the gaskets today...Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it...

i have the same issue, but haven't figured it out yet. experiencing low boost. Also, the boost gauge flutters in low rpms, until it builds boost. only mod is an uppipe. you think it's the header exhaust gasket?

what was your max boost with your leak? funny thing is..no sounds.

I didn't get the fluctuating boost thing though, it just took longer for the turbo to spool up and it is louder than hell with the exhaust leak. Sounds like a vacuum line thing or the wastegate or BOV. This thread may be of help
