Yes that is blending or tapering the TB, from the edge to the plate. We are porting the TB, the whole unit is enlarged. Not just before throttle plate. Though we offer that service as well. Quantum ( http://www.quantum-racing.com/Products.htm ) offers this as well, $175. We will port for $250, and taper for $125. Did you look at the pictures? What did you think?

There is no way a ported Tb alone is good for 12 hp, or 10 or even 3 hp on this car.

This is forced induction, not NA...the motor is not sucking in air, air is being rammed into it. Granted, a smooth tract into the combustion chamber is beneficial, but unless the whole inlet tract is the same diameter, there will be no gains, only perceived ones. To do this properly, you would need a ported turbo, IC hose, TB and intake manifold, not to mention cleaning up the heads a bit as well....after all the effort is it worth it? MAYBE if everything is apart already and being reassembled, but by itself, not a chance.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, just trying to give it to people straight without the sales hype. This is a VERY VERY VERY worthwhile mod if you do it the right way....make everything the same diameter, from the turbo onwards. But unless you are skilled enough or have enough free time on your hands to do it, its not worth it.

My $0.02

We will see when the dyno figures get posted won't we. Why even do headwork if being FI negates improving flow in air passages.

The dyno results are all fine and well, and again, I am not dismissing this as a mod for someone...but to say that this part alone is a 12 hp gain, +/- 2 is just unrealistic at best as far as I see it. This is a worthwhile mod to do if you do it as part of a system (at least fromt he intercooler pipes onwards to the head).

As for headwork and FI, not sure what you are referring to? one has nothing to do with another.

As for dyno plots...well, I am a perpetually cynical about that stuff (as I have seen way too many examples of pure BS) and simply do not believe from anyone anymore...let alone from someone trying to sell something...that is NOT a crack on you at all, Ken. I respect the fact that you are trying to help out the community, and I am all for testing and trying new things to improve the heard.

The heads, the manifold, the turbo, the intake...all a part of a system. A system full of compromises. When making gains, what are we doing? Minimizing compromises and improving efficiency. I'll pass on the debate in favor of proof. I remember when the WRX came out, I got yelled at by a lot of people for suggesting the stock intake system was crap. And could be vastly improved upon. Some people think stock is best, I can't help them. Improvements are made with experimentation, trying the untried. But this isn't really a new thing is it. FI cars do upgrade TB sizing. Check it out.
