I have found the only way to get a "true" reading on the ridiculous WRX dipstick is waiting till morning and checking on level surface before startup. Pretty sure the low-high difference on the stick is a quart. I would not be real happy with qt./1500 mile usage but most car manufacturers will call that normal.

I check the oil the first thing in the morning when it is cold. My feeling is that if it has been sitting overnight all the oil should have settled.

For people that have topped off there oil when it is a quart low, does it take a full quart to bring it up to maximum?

In my case it seems to top off adding a lot less than a quart. Why is this?
