Need some expert opinion/advice for HKS DP install gone wrong?
So I took my suby to a local shop, and got my cobb stage 2 parts installed - UPpipe + DP and catback, ecu reflash and the next day I ran into some difficulties: I am worried about future problems with my downpipe leaking. I had also purchased brand new OEM gaskets for this install. As you can see in the picture, the stud has been sheared/broken off, but still looks firmly in place. After taking it back to the shop, the mechanic told me that there should not be any problems. I am still unsure. Any suggestions?

Eventually the joint will leak. You didn't really say who broke the stud. I will assume the shop broke it during the install. At any rate the broken stud will need to be drilled and tapped. The stud is drilled out with progressively larger drill bit until it out the stud is completely removed the correct tap (thread) run through. Once it is drilled you can also put a regular nut an bolt through it. Replacing the stud would be the correct repair. If the shop broke the stud I would inisist they replace it as that would make a correct install.

I would get that fixed as the above guy suggested. That will totally leak. I would worry about that flang flexing, too. Nothing has torqued that side down while all the other sides are. I would just worry about flexing in that flang. If the shop that put that in did that, tell them to fix it.

Thanks for the quick responses, that's why this board is so great.
The shop should be responsible for the stud because they installed the pipe. I will definitely go back to the shop and insist that they fix it.
How much of an increased risk of leakage will I have by re-using my DP gaskets for the repair?
