OK after all this talk about octane and after mulling over it for a few months, and not being able to find any gas with an octane rating higher than 91 within 50 miles *grrr* I went and bought 2 gallons of toluene.

Wow, what a nice change. Engine revs considerably smoother and there's a perceptible positive change in throttle response and general ECU happiness to boost without retarding timing. Mind you, I have no logging and this is by the seat of my pants... but holy shizit, my cell phone which is pinched in place by a holder that is attached to the cupholder's front plate, it has never fallen out while accellerating, even after I got my EBC. But today, when I'd punch it the freaking thing just about jumped to the back seat! Three times!
