Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Definitely do exhaust first. Free up all that horsepower! First, up-pipe. Eliminate that cat. With just an up-pipe, you will spool up faster and gain about 10whp. Don't mess with the motor. I've talk with a few people and they said that the accessport doesn't do that much. Have fun with your mods!

AccessPORT doesn't do much? I'd really like to know who the he!! said that. The Cobb AccessPORT is awesome!!! Check out this dyno chart http://cobbtuning.com/wrx/images/ae-stage2-dyno.jpg
and that's with just a TBE and the programming. I'm running an uppipe and intercooler hoses also and I expect to be pushing about 230 awhp. The AP is the single best bang-for-your-buck mod for the WRX, hands down.
Get a full Helix exhaust from Subydude or Gruppe-S for like $850 and then get the AP for $600. You'll never be happier with the power.
Oh yeah, don't buy an intake. I had the AEM CAI and I took it off cause it made my car run like ****. The MAF gets really angry.

perrin short ram is fine, i have it and it sounds great
i agree with what a lot of people are saying, helix uppipe and downpipe first, cat back, if you want something stealthy, go with the greddy evo(i used o have it) or the borla hush(i have now)
then do engine management, i chose utec because of the adjustability.stage 2 utec is nice,
i am now at stage 3 running the jdm v 7 top mount intercooler
imho the best bang for buck is helix up/down

Good idea to research and ask questions about mod before doing it... props given! My first 2 mods were a intake and GFB BOV, I've since learnd they aren't the best for the Rex. I've mod'd a bit since then and researched much more... I've found the best and most economic power mods for the Rex is: a catless downpipe (the most restrictive cat out of the 3), and ECU reflash - would recommend COBB Access Port. Also if you want to go with the Turbo XS stealth, that is a very good option; you can keep the stock muffler. But if you want to add a bit more power, deep sound, while keeping DB's at a minimum - I would suggest the Prodrive Axleback (way less restrictive than stock, but quite and deep tone). Cobb Access-Port, Turbo XS StealthBack, and Prodrive Axleback = Awesome set up!
Anyone disagree?

ya totally, if he went with just those three he would see a huge difference, or he could do downpipe and catbacj and uppipe plus reflash of choice
i did intake first, and i really wish i hadnt... not that it is a prob, but there are more bang for buck mods out there

I'm not covinced that stament is accurate. I think that a Cobb Stage 2 setup with an uppipe and IC hoses (I have this setup) should put about 230 to the wheels. That kind of hp should be able to hang with a stock EVO. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

i raced a stock evo with up pipe down pipe, catback, and intake blowoff valve, and flywheel, i had a great start, on him, but by second gear he was pretty much even, and he won by 2 car lengths

Did you have any sort of engine management? If not, you're not getting the most out of the up and down pipes. Also, the intake and BOV probably hurt you a little.

Hummm... I have some concerns about some of the comments made on this post. First - Yes! the Cobb Access Port will make a signifigent difference. ECU managment is typically the most bang for the buck you will get; Cobb maps are safe, reliable, good power. Next, there's not... if any power/ reliablity given with air intakes or BOV (research this). Turboback exhausts are a very good first or second add-on. I would choose Prodrive or Borla hush for the catback - both are good and quiet, Greedy evo is quite too - but looks ricey.
Finally will such add-ons keep you up with Evo, I would say yes: check out Cobbs stats with the Cobb Stage 2 with T/back exhaust:

285 WHP
0-60 mph : 4.6 seconds
1/4 mile : 13.4 @ 101.5 mph

(Don't think a stock Evo will touch those numbers!)
