Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

(how does one build an) 8000 rpm WRX?

It def. won't be cheap but do you have a reason you want this? Generally shortened rods will do the trick but you'll lose torque as a trade off. You'd have to strengthen the entire engine from drivetrain to bottom end and then higher RPMs are def. possible. Again, it won't be cheap.

I could be wrong, but I think the diff in redline comes from the bottom end(R/S ratio). Valve trains are similar/same no?

Dont have to spend 8grand to do it. Cheap if you can do your own motor building---figure $4000 or so depending on how high dollar you wanna go. Twice that if your into JDM parts like Jun stuff.
