Help...EGT install problems!
Over the weekend I installed my 3 52mm Omori guages in my '03 WRX. The boost and oil pressure work perfectly but my EGT isn't registering anything. I wired them all in on Friday so they all had power and completely installed the boost and pres., then on Saturday I drilled and tapped my manifold and installed the sensor, and plugged all the wires together. Turned on my car, and nothing. The gauge just sits at 4, the lowest it can rest. When turned on it sweeps into the red so I know it's functional and the needle moves but I can't understand why it won't register anything. I disconnected the battery again to see if it just had to reset or something but still nothing happened. I have checked all connections again, everything's fine. I'm guessing I have a dead sensor? Unless there's something I missed. Drilled and tapped my manifold in the casting bead between the 2nd and 4th cylinders, driver's side. If anybody could help I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Matt

Unfortunately, it does sound like the sensor is dead.
You have power.
The needle moves.
The sensor is sounds like it's in a spot to read.
It just doesn't.
Try swapping it out with a new sensor or just return the whole thing to be sure, unless you know someone that can look at it cuz we can't see exactly what you did.
Good Luck

Yeah unfortunately there aren't any shops around who can really test it. I was planning on taking it to get tuned at Godspeed within the next couple weeks, I'm sure they could look at it, but if it's dead I'd have to get another one anyways. Then that whole trip would be for nothing. I guess I'll call and see if I can get another sensor shipped to me, then return the other one if it works. I followed all the instructions I found on the forums, so to the best of my knowledge it's installed correctly, not too much to screw up really.

No, I couldn't wire them so they dimmed. I don't think anyone's been succesful doing that with Omori's yet. I connected 3 gauges together just below the fuse box then ran wires to the clock to splice into the power there. Two wires went to the clock for ignition power and light power, then I grounded the gauges to a bolt under the dash. I think I just happened to receive a faulty gauge. Now I've noticed that sometimes the gauge will stay at the extreme end 2200+ degrees when the car is turned on and running. I gave J-Spec a call to see if I can get a replacement to try. We'll see what happens. Thaison's great so I'm sure I'll be able to get things worked out.

Well, I just talked to Thaison at J-Spec and he said it is a fairly common problem. Omori sacrifices a bit of reliability with the probes for the much quicker response times. He's sending me a new one to replace the defective one. So I should have it all worked out soon. Thanks for the responses. -Matt
theworx: Where is Force Fed Industries located? I've never heard of them. The do a lot of tuning work? If I need anything done in the future I may have to look them up.
