G'luck with WRX intakes
I know theres lots of problems with these. i've had to switch back in my stock intake cuz the aftermarket cone was stalling it in neautral at times and would also give me the bogging/jumpy start problems i've also heard of. IS THERE ANY OUT THERE THAT DONT **** UP MY CAR? 03 WRX i plan on leavin the hole open where the silencer once was and maybe puttin a cone there which will make a neat custom two input coldair intake. air from grill and fender. we'll see if this will stall my car. i'll get back to u within the week

I've got an AEM shortram on my '03 WRX, and I've never had a CEL, period. I've also never had a stumble, stall, poor acceleration, or anything else that's commonly attributed to installing hi-flow intakes. I've been running this intake for over 12,000 miles now with my cat back exhaust, and have only noticed an Increase in performance, low and high end. The car pulls slightly harder and responds better when not building boost, feels like it's building boost a few hundred rpm sooner, and pulls extremely hard in the higher rpm range. I read all sorts of bad things about intakes on this car, but from my experience, the AEM is well worth it.
Well I guess people aren't going to know unless they personally dyno them. AEM and all those companies wouldn't post up dyno tests showing nothing. And we all know how inaccurate "butt dynos" are.

I've had the XS Engineering Intake for about 12,000 miles... no problems whatsoever. Just give it some time for the ECU to adjust. Butt dyno says at least a 10whp increase. Real dyno says more.
XS Engineering CAI Dyno:

Of course I do kinda regret getting an intake cuz if I wanted to get a reflash (I REALLY DO WANT TO!!!) I cannot go the cheap route and order up a pre-set staged reflash and have it guaranteed to work with the intake. But since I got this as my first mod cuz I was worried about removing cats, it has served me very well and I have a hard time parting with it. Friends with a turbo back and no intake always say how much faster my car feels than theirs.

and yeah, screw the intakes... get an up-pipe, downpipe, exhaust, intercooler hoses, and reflash... you'll be pretty happy, im sure.

You may or may not have seen what I have to say about intake on GReddy on a different thread

I've had this problem since the night I installed the intake and am hoping that when I get an exhaust put on it the problem will go away (maybe less back pressure). From what it seems the engine may be getting to much air, but I am not for sure on that. If I throw it into neutral and rolling at about 60mph it will go below what it normally idles at and slowly make its way back to what it normally sits at. Basically if I throw into neutral, the faster I go the lower the needle will dip towards 0 RPM... 80+ will shut the car off. In cases like this I will throw into 5th and slowly let the clutch out to turn the car back on.... Way scary when turning at the same time

i also agree with the greddy intakes and those alike. they do stall the car. custom your stockbox or atleast try the ram or CAI intakes. i want to try a XS or AEM CAI but heard to many bad things. i think i'll spend the money on uppipe or new grill and lights
