Fumoto valve... nipple or no nipple?

Anyone with a Fumoto valve have the one with the nipple? How long is it? It doesn't look long enough to cause problems, right? I'd rather get the one w/ the nipple than not. Besides just being a general fan of all nipples, this just says, "cleaner drain" to me.

EITHER...The one with the nipple is the one i have (F105N IRRC) and i've had it on for 16000 miles without an issue or leak. Just be sure to get an extra crush washer for the install to assure good sealing.

The one in the pic here is the exact one i have...it's about 1/2" long and there's no way anything could knock it off going forward. Any debris would hit the bumper, radiator, headers etc etc first. the only way i could see it being a problem for the nipple is if you were driving 45mph in reverse and hit a deer or old person.

Makes life a whole lot easier. flick of the wrist, drop the filter, wait to drain, flick of the wrist, new filter and fill... done in 10minutes.

All this nipple talk is making me horny..thanks jason gonna have to rub one off at work...

There's not nipple in that pic though... The nipple one looks like this:

Which is the one you have? Its about 1/2" to 5/8" longer, so the website says.

jason

p.s. I hope those pics help you in your alone-time at work

i stand corrected then Jason... i am nippleless then LOL . it's a very clean pour without the nipple. it think that nipple is overkill IMHO.

EDIT: however, it would be nice to just run some aquarium tubing into a 2lt coke bottle for the used oil instead of a pan...but you'll still need to drop the messy filter so...

I put one of these on my last oil change (1000 more miles before I get to try it out).. I wonder, what are you talking about "extra crush washer" ? Mine came with one that I used to intsall it, was I suppose to use two?

if you dont have a leak then don't worry about it. the OEM subaru plug uses a crush style washer to creat a gasket effect for the plug. I just put one on instead... no biggie.

I got one with and one with out when I first ordered them. I have two Scoobies. I thought with the under brush guard on our OB the one with the nipple would come in handy. It sticks down too far and I ended up cutting it off. I think you don't need to get one. Pics and info here:

Peaty,

wow, excellent thread line. Everyone else reading this thread should read that one about drain issues. I'll be ordering my (nippless ) value right now .. and when it arrives I'll bust out the Dremel

you guys go too far for me that's why i drain as much as i can, close the valve, then come back 10minutes later to drain the rest. Plus i change it my oil every 3000miles on the dot so no dremel for me on this one.

Just to check I drained like normal then removed the valve. Only a small amount came out. The valve I put in my XT I didn't bother to dremel. You an always put a couple of washers like the fiber one and a crush washer if you are concerned. I change mine every 3K too and I'm not all that worried.
