Acceleration hesitates, then surges

Help? Help!
I have a wrx with allot of modification. Every once in a while, I floor it once I'm already at 3000 RPM in in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear, 4th... and my exhause sounds reallllly looud and makes a gurgeling noise. The car also accelerates wierd. It feel real fast when I start to floor it, and then it like slows down, and then lunges forward and slows down and keeps doing it. I dont know what that is, it only does it once in a while. It comes and goes. I took it to Turbo Tricks Racing in NJ and every time I take it to them, it stops doing it...I get it back, its fine. . . then it does it again. The CEL light flashes when I do it...but my laptop is broken and I cant check it.

CEL flashing would indicate knock, do you have a boost gauge? are you over boosting above your dyno tuned setting? Perhaps you were tuned in the summer a little close to the edge and now with the colder temps your boosting a little more than expected?
Perhaps you should borrow a laptop and run some logs!

I am boosting at a constant 18 lbs... It was tuned for it. The boost was spiking...so I looked for the leak. I found a small crack in the plastic vaccum line going from the back of the gauge to the engince comparment. I disconnected the gauge and blocked off the line. I took it for a ride....It drove beautifully...and the I turned it off. I drove it again like 30 min later...the problem came back. It accelerated good when I give it some gas....then floor it. WHen I just floor it from the start...the problem is back. I dont understand this ****. I spent so much money on this car, and the probles keep on coming. I would use the ecutek logger and show you people my logs when the problm starts....but my laptops lcd screen is busted. And the ****ty part it...I have no job yet. I just lost my old job so I have no money to get the car looked at.

Well, time to stop complaining, and like Mike said, start logging. If you don't see any visually identifiable hysical problem you gotta find out what the computer's responding to. Go to that shop you spoke of and see if you can rent/borrow a logging tool... or make a friend on i-club

If there is anyone here that has a laptop in the central nj area, and is willing to rent it to me or let me borrow it...please let me know. I would use my laptop...but I broke the monitor.
I have the ecutek deltadash logging software already...
I just need a laptop with a printer port and a 9 pin serial port...

Its prob your spark plugs or your coil pack. I had the same problem and it was a bad coil pack and its fine now. Basically you are running on 3 or even 2 cyl and its not that great for your car. It was also same with mine. It would be fine for a while than it would happen again. Its while its not jerking around the sparks are actually fireing but very weak, bc they are dirty or just bad. Hope that helps
