Fumoto drain valve leaking...

I just put on a fumoto drain valve on my car. It has the blue flex washer on it, and i put the crush washer that was on the car's bolt. when i screwed it in, it's angling slightly down and towards the rear of the car, not straight up. Any help in fixing the leak? thanks

I also had a leak when I used the blue washer. I eventually just used the crush washer and it lines up perfectly and doesn't leak.

I used only the blue washer and not the crush washer and I have had the fumotovalve on my car over 35k miles with no leaks. Be careful not to cross thread the threads on the fumotovalve as well, since it is made out of brass, and your oil pan is made of steel.

sorry for such a n00b question, but what do you exactly mean by that?

It is easy to destroy the threads on the fumotvalve since it is made from brass. Brass is a softer metal than steel. So if you cross-thread the threads when trying to install it, you will be SOL.

I have not installed one of these valves but if it's brass and it went in at an angle and it's leaking that suggests it is cross-threaded.

K-daddee is right, easy to crossthread. Mine hasn't leaked a smidgeon in 2+ years.

well, it's not bent at an angle. It's just that the top isn't pointed straight up is what I meant. Sorry for the confusion, it's that the top (where the spring is) is pointed towards the back of the car.

Used both the OEM crush and the blue washer, no leaks yet (knocking on wood)...

I used only the blue washer. It leaked at first but then I let the car cool completely and gave it an additional tightening (the car was pretty warm when it was originally installed) and now everything is A-OK.

I've been using the Fumoto w/blue washer for about 8K miles w/o any leaks on my WRX. I have one on my wife's car too w/o any leaks for 9.5K miles.

I would call the company and have them send out another. maybe you got a defective one.

I've had mine for 50k+ miles and not a problem.
