exhaust...is it worth it?

Yellow WRX,
I apologize. After re-reading your post I found that I misinterpreted your statement "don't just put an exhaust in your car, it's a waste of money".
I missed the "Just".. as in only mod. Since you did not follow through with the exact supporting reasons and I missed the "just" I had felt that your (my interpretation) statements were opinionated and unfounded. I was wrong.
On a side note:
The manufactures are not that responsible for selling "Bolt-on-parts". If you choose to modify your car, you should know what you are getting yourself into. People really need to learn about tuning or they should not modify their engine.
Just my 2 cents.
Thank you for the feedback and sorry for the attitude...I will try to watch myself on that...I am a very passionate person about cars....it impairs my social judgment at times.

It's just good to remember that these forums are for posting opinions, questions, etc. One of the big problems with these threads about modifying cars, is that people just do not understand just what all is involved in messing with cars! Also, the magazines and go-fast-goodies manufacturers do not really dwell on all the pitfalls and problems that the hot-rodding road lead to..... The average Joe out there (like me and many others) is very easily seduced by all the wonderful claims and glossy pictures of neat cars and all. Eagerly we go forth with fistfuls of $$ and visions of sugarplums dancing in our heads
....The fine print is really hard to read...... Also, human nature says "that won't happen to me! I'm way wiser, I know better, etc." trust me, I've learned a lot about cars over the years and I've paid in hard cash and lots of experience
... You might not realize it, but I might have been around even longer than your dad
so I've been around the block a few times. Still, that does not make me an authority or some kind of guru. I just can share my experience such as it is. In this case I say to Hoffman (the original poster) don't waste your money on an exhaust, that will just be a beginning....as I said before, unless he is a motorhead with lots of skill, time and deep pockets, he'll just waste is money.Peace,
Manuel

You guys are awesome, and I am proud of you! The world is a better place now, seriously. You remind me of my wife and I, both saying the same thing, but somewhere along the line missing a detail. Your both on the same side and it's good to see you come to a mature resolution. Finally some smart people big enough to say "I'm sorry bro" That's a hard thing for most to do.
