The exhaust project, part one: Adding a Cat...?

Hey, everyone. Happy MLKJr day...

Well, with the issue with my power surging finally diagnosed, it's time to do the full exhaust. No sense in just replacing a cat or two at this point.

So we have *almost* everything lined up here.
-I have a shop with a lift that I can play around in.
-I've decided on a Helix Flex up-pipe.
-I've decided on a Borla Hush catback...I want to hang as close to stock noise levels as I can, but gain performance.

That leaves a downpipe/mid-section. Here's where I need a hand.

My car is registered in Vermont, so I have no worries about emmissions testing for inspections. I do, however want to keep a single cat in place in the mid/down section, to keep the smell down and protect the environment a little bit. But I want to step up to full 3" tubing all the way if I'm going to do this.

What are the suggestions? I know of no good exhaust shops around here, and certainly none that I'd trust to do custom fabbing. Are there any bolt-on possibilities here?

I know the exhaust theme is being beaten to death in here lately, but I'm still learning, and I'd like to make sure I do things right...and the suggestions in here are always great.

Thanks in advance.

My recommendation would be to go with a whole 3 inch Turbo back exhaust system through either Vishnu (www.vishnutuning.com) or TurboX (www.turboxs.com). The both sell one with high flow cats. Turboback = downpipe, catalytic converter, axleback and muffler. If you like the Borla Hush, just use a Borla Hush muffler with either setup minus the muffler they sell. Both sell mandrel bent piping. I personally went with the TurboX one coz it is cheaper and got sick of waiting on Vishnu to ship **** out..... pipes are pipes are pipes are pipes ...
P.S. The muffler will have to have a 3inch piping to connect properly.

The Hush is a 3" if I'm correct. I really want to stay as quiet as possible, and I've heard the Vishnu is quite a bit louder than stock. I'd assume the TXS is too...but I don't know. Is there a good place to get the TXS Catted DP setup without having to buy the exhaust too? Or is there a better option out there? Any thoughts?

Stromung sells a new 3" divorced downpipe and a 3" cat section.
"daddy's scp" (vendor) also sells a 3" highflow cat section.

check out this site, you might find all you need. http://www.daddysscp.com/

Thanks for the help!

I'm looking around that site, and I don't see specifically a 3" cat section...am I missing something here?

Gotcha. It looks like it's catless, though, and also tapers to a 2.5" opening on the downstream end. The Twin-Dump downpipe w/Cat at the bottom that's coming next month may be exactly the thing for me, though.

Where can I get better info on the Stromung stuff? If they have a DP/Midpipe with a cat that I can buy without the exhaust and add the Hush to, (or if TXS has something as well), I'd be all ears. I'd love to stay clear of fabrication if possible here, and 3" all the way.

Thanks again!

Well, from the looks of it, the TurboXS DP and High-Flow Cat section are available separately. This is good; does anyone know how I can find out about the fitment of the Borla Hush with this stuff? Will this bolt up? It looks like it is possible that the Borla muffler would bolt to the DP, Cat section, and mid-pipe, but I'd like to be able to skip the TXS midpipe if possible since the Hush comes with one. Can anyone point me in the right direction, or have any experience with this?
