Adding Milage to Gauge Cluster
Hi All,
Here is what I think is a vaid question:
If I were to put in a new gauge cluster in my car and I want the new Odometer to read the same Milage from the previous cluster how could I do this?
I would also want to adjust the original cluster if I ever put it back in to reflect the additional Milage.
Is there a way to advance the Milage on the cluster electronically?
I know this seems silly but if I changed the cluster I want the car to truly refect the milage on it.... I think this is a valid concern as I don't want to have problems with warranty etc. over it.
I thought of just writing down the reading of the cluster before taking it out and keeping that in the glove box as a refrence... but it would be better to have it programed in.
If anyone can help I would be very greatful.
Thanks
Derek

Have a suby dealer verify your milage before the new one goes in. Pretty much a signed note for the dealer stating on xx date, the car had xx miles. On that date a new cluster was put in showing zero miles.
As for a "reflash" of you new cluster to reflect miles, maybe. I know on Dodge products it could be done, but you needed a very "inside" connection to get it done. I'll put it this way, my brother had a neon (yes, I know neon) he leased it, went WAY over miles for the lease. His friend happened to be one of the people that designed the cars electronic brain. Well, one afternoon at his house and the car was under the limit. No I do not say using this miles adjustment is right, it is wrong, but does show that it should be able to be done. I do remember the guy that did the reflash saying the miles were kept in a few places in the brains of the car to see if anyone messes with it.

IIRC someone was trying to see if he can swap the current one into the new gauge cluster. I think he's still waiting for his gauge cluster to come in so it might be a while before anything useful turns up.
