uppipe install complete
!Quick question for all of yall, I just got done installing a new after market uppipe. I am pretty sure it is leak free but I just want to ask a few questions to be sure.
If there was a leak would you hear it throughout the entire RPM range or just under boost.
My turbo defintely is louder, but kind of sounds fluttery, this would have anything to do with a leak would it?
Thanks in advance for any help

Hey Slick50,
Are there any points/tips you can give me about the uppipe install? I have my Vishnu uppipe that i'm just dying to install but not sure if I have the time or skills to do so. Was there anything you came across that I should watch out for? Any hints you can give to make it a little smoother? How long did it take you and what route did you take?
Thanks,
Todd

No joke the instal really takes approx 5-6 hours. I figured how hard could it be to swap this thing out, well the answer is pretty hard.....
I fell everything went well, it was just a bunch of little things held me up. Even if I were to do it again, I wouldnt save much time. I use several sets of instructions. ONes from Vishnu, Perin, and forums members. It was all helpful to prep myself for the install. There are not a lot of things to help shortcut the process other than having all of the right tools, wd40, good set of instructions, a breaker bar or pipe, and as others have said patience.
There will be a lot of hard to reach bolts and what not so be patient. Start early, and take breaks. I started this morning at 8:30 and went to 2 or 3. I would also recommend some sort of under the car sled instead of sliding in and out on your back. I did not have one and my back and neck are sore.
Oh yeah use some wd40 on the rubber tubes connecting the intercooler, otherwise it is a nightmare to get on, even with it is still difficult.
Good luck with the install.

MAke sure you have a nice socket set with all of the attachments, and a nice open wrench set as well. I use the extenders for the sockets countless times during the install........
My advice is unless you really want to work on your car yourself, take it to a shop. I am glad I did it, but I can't imagine doing this unless it interests you.

uppipe leaks are loud, mostly heard continously while under boost. it is only when the turbo is "working hard" that appreciable backpressure exists in the uppipe/manifold.

thanks for the replies.
i am lookin forward to putting on the dp this weekend, should be a breeze after the upipe.
I figured the flutter had to be something with the engine type, my 1.8T VW never sounded like this, it was a much smoother whistle.
