Engine stalled during mid-powerslide 03 WRX
Well I'm purely stock and I just hit up an empty parking lot to enjoy the nice snowfall we got today. I stay in 2nd (huge lot) and then gas to about 4K RPM and then proceed to powerslide/drift and keep it in gear, revving as I see necessary. Well by the time I come to a stop, I see the dash lights on and my car has stalled. Any thoughts?

be careful your knee's not too close to the key, i've hit it before mid-drift on dry pavement and let me tell you that was an interesting experience. it doesn't take much especially if you have the STi key.

Good point
Reference the mention of fuel levels as above.
I was at the track for a two-lap timed session and the low-fuel light had just come on. I figured I had _plenty_ of gas to make it 2 laps (about 3 miles). But as soon as I went into the first long left-hand corner (pushing the fuel up to the right in the tank) the car started cutting out and only came back in after the corner, going straight.
Perhaps this is what you've experienced?
Either way, please report back.

I had enough gas and I didn't stall the engine the normal way, like if I came to a complete stop with it still in gear. I definitely didn't hit the key with my knee. I just powerslid in ONE direciton, I didn't go back and forth. Oh well, it hasn't happened since, hopefully it's just a one time thing.

i think a more accurate identification of exactly WHEN the car stalled is in order here. just noticing that the engine is no longer running when you come to a stop is not enough information.
fwiw, i did 4 wheel drifts for about an hour over the weekend in a nice snowy p-lot and never experienced anything like that. my03 s/w 5 sp.

This probably has little or nothing to do with your situation but...the mid to late 80's Subaru GL's had a tendency to die around hair pin corners. I've ridden in three that have done this.

Like BBB said, it is probably not what's happening but it could be something similar.
