Question does redline H2O wetter help?

Has anyone used the Redline oil water wetter, (the additive for the water in your radiator) it says that it will give a drop in temp up to 20 degrees celcius....does this really work...thanks

Can't hurt....If it saves your motor once, I think it paid for itself.

yes, it does work --but i'm not sure about the claim of helping by 20 degrees. i've used it extensively in motorcycles with just water (no ethyl glycol coolant) with excellent results. i wouldn't reccomend doing that in a daily driven car though.

thanks....what do you guys think the ratio for coolant should be...50/50 coolant and H2O, and add the water wetter.....or?

water wetter is in a small bottle compared to the gallons in the cooling system. Just ad it to the overflow resivour and after 10 heat cycles it will be in the radiator

i'd use 50/50 water/coolant, and then follow the directions on the back of water wetter. i think it's something like 1 cap ful per gallon of coolant, or something along those lines. i don't think you need the whole bottle.

See: http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/redtech3.htm

for details on Water Wetter.

USE DIRECTIONS
One 12 ounce bottle treats 12- 16 quarts of water or a 50% ethylene or propylene glycol solution. In smaller cooling systems, use 4 - 5 caps per quart. Add directly through the cooling system fill cap into the radiator or into the overflow tank. Do not open a cooling system while hot. For best protection for aluminum, replenish or replace every 15,000 miles. The anti-scaling ingredients in Red Line Water Wetter allow its use with ordinary tap water. However, using with distilled or deionized water will accomplish some scale removal in the cylinder head area. For maximum temperature reductions use the most water and the least antifreeze possible to prevent freezing in your climate. Even in summertime the use of air-conditioning can blow freezing air through the heater and cause freezing of the heater core unless approximately 20% antifreeze is used. Red Line Water Wetter is available in 12 ounce containers.

It basicly raises the boiling point or the mix. Which is a good thing on the track.

no, it doesn't.

it increases the ability of the water to transfer heat. it also inhibits corrosion.

it does NOT provide anti-freeze, or anti-boil properties.

i use it.

ride5000 is correct

Antifreeze transfers heat WORSE than water, but it wont freeze. So for thoes of you who are goinng to put in straight antifreeze you'll loose cooling ability.
Straight water is great for cooling, but it freezes and has no lubricants or corrosion addativs
