Last month's Road and Track featured the follow up to the Impreza WRX Long Tem Test (30K miles I think). Anyway, in the first installment, R&T reported a clutch chatter at 14K miles. In the second article, they mentioned that the CLUTCH was fine, but the clutch pedal pushrod (into the clutch master cyl, I assume?) needed adjustment. Has ANYONE else experienced this problem (not the symptom of chatter, we ALL suffer from that), but have you had your Impreza diagnosed with the clutch pushrod out of adjustment? My 30K service is coming up real soon, you can bet the service mgr. and I are going to have a talk about this chatter. I want to see what this pushrod has to do with the problem. I know on many cable-operated clutches, the cable needs a certain amount of 'drag' or 'delay' built into it (usually suppiled by the design of the bowden sleeve) to keep the clutch from shuddering. But what about a hydraulic system?
any reply is appreciated,

Tell him about the Subaru Service Bulletin (check thread on car shudder problem below), and ask him about the 'pushrod' that R&T mentioned.
and good luck!

Is "clutch chatter" the problem that my WRX has in 2nd gear, low RPMs? If I am in 2nd and am around 1.8-2.2k, then take my foot OFF the gas, the whole car shudders like I was down at .5k RPMS and took my foot off the clutch too fast -- put my foot back on the gas, and it is smooth again. This started for me at about 8,000 miles, but a friend of mine says it is a problem with many turbocharged engines when they are hot (and it is HOT in Phoenix!)
