Describe clutch shudder
Describe clutch shudder
This morning I noticed for the first time what I think is what people are referring to as clutch shudder. It was pretty significant at first but faded fairly quickly. This does not seem like something I can live with. Today here in Jersey it was cold and damp and my car had been sitting for 2 days. Does that contribute? Any comment would be welcome.

when the cluctch starts to engage and you feel an odd vibration or shudder in the car. not lurch like you don't know how to drive, but a shudder. its similar to when brake get warped and they get a pulsation to them. when the flywheels gets hot, or dirty it shudders. usually from excessive (sp?) clutch wear (i.e. riding the clutch to long, heats up the flywheel.) not sure if letting it sit for a couple days would do it. don't really think so, b/c moisture has no way to get in and rust it. don't know what to tell you. the fix is to have the flywheel turned.

you know, me and all of the people i know that have WRX's have the same problem. i know a guy that does that every time he's in 1st gear, he needs to go get that checked out, but me and another friend always get that when our cars are cold.. so that might what it is.. not sure exactly. just wanted you to know, you're not the only one with that problem
it feels like your clutch is skipping on the flywheel. bring it in and they'll replace the clutch and flywheel if it's under 30k. if over 30k and flywheel looks good. they only replace the clutch. good luck!
