Car turns off while braking

This morning while I was getting off the freeway, my car turned off while braking. I tried turning back on, but it took awhile before I got it to start back on. Any ideas what this may be?

I have a 02 wrx.

This happened to me a while back when I had a blitz BOV. (it came with the car when i bought it) It was a non-recirculating one and it was pretty much open the whole time i was driving so I would be stalling in 5th and 4th gear as I was braking. lol

Maybe I need to change my BOV? I'm having some starter issues too, but I'm replacing it this week. Not too sure if that will solve this..
