Shaking while Braking

I have an 04 WRX with no mods. It has 15,000 miles on it and is starting to get front end wobbling/shaking while braking at high (freeway) speed. Also, the alignment appears to be slightly off. I have to ever so slightly steer to the left to go straight. I have checked my tires for wear, tire pressure and have adhered to the suggested tire rotation schedule. This problem was not sudden, but has slowly progressed to this weird high speed shimmy. I know there could be a million things wrong, but has anyone experienced this and if so what was the problem?

Your alignment could be part of the culprit, but it's most likely more than anything your rotors are warped. Meaning that you've overheated them at some point.

Take it to your dealer and have them check and service the brakes. This should be covered under the 3/36 warranty.

I actually got a letter from the dealership saying that some subaru wrx's have a problem with the front ABS brakeing system. It stated that at high speeds or braking over a rough surface, that ABS system vibrates and could cause a problem. I just brought it to the dealership and they are fixing it while we speak. I would sugest that you bring it to your dealership and get it checked out

It could also be that the wheel balance is out. Braking emphasizes this.

The ABS issue only happens under hard braking on uneven surfaces. When it happens you feel like you have lost your brakes for a second (like you are on ice). It is very obvious and quite unnerving the first time it happens.
