burning oil

My oil level stays the same and never gets low. I've read stories of peoples oil "consumption" happening on a regular basis and it's expected to happen. Is this just under racing condition or what? My car is a Cobb stage 2 with 107K miles on it. I check my oil religeously. I swear, it never gets low. Is this normal for cars that never see the track? I still drive it like I stole it when there's nobody else on the road...

Or when it's just me and a 350Z on a deserted road....I smoked him off the line,...but he passed me after I made the mistake of letting off my gas...got to love the top end of those Z's. I couldn't catch him after he passed me.

Since turbo cars generally run pretty hot, there can be oil burnoff/consumption. If you don't rev your engine hard and keep it on full boil, you shouldn't see it. I know that RX-8's burn a lot of oil because rotaries run hotter than a mother. Also, if you run full synthetic, it should help since synthetic can tolerate more heat before burning.

I think it also depends on oil change intervals. I run synthetic, my car is Cobb stage 2, it has 65k on it and I don’t have to top it off until around 4k into the oil change. If I were to change the oil every 3k I would never have to top it off.

BTW, I drive 80 hwy miles round trip to work every day and I'm usually averaging around 80 mph.

I drive from Marin county, ca. to Livermore 5 days a week. I change my oil every 3K miles so that's probably why I don't see any oil loss...
