You're probably hitting fuel cut from overboosting. I REALLY hope you have a boost gauge on hte car. Let us know what your peak boost is.

More importantly, make sure you're never in positive boost with less than ~75% throttle. If you are, you're running boost with very lean A/F ratios, also called Partial Throttle Full Boost (do a search for "PTFB"). When you are below ~60% throttle, the ECU is operating in what's called "closed-loop" mode (another search to do). In that mode, it's using the O2 sensor to try to run 14.5:1 A/F ratio, which is far too lean under boost. What happens is you get very high EGTs, detonation, and eventually your motor blows up.

Well, what is "high" How much boost pressure are you getting? Assuming you have a stock turbo, You shouldn't be reaching mroe than about 16.5 psi peak, tapering off to 12 at redline (which you probably aren't, with an MBC). And the gauge isn't ever going to read high- if it breaks it will read low. The high reading when cruising means you're getting PTFB- I would pull the MBC out if I were you, and go get an EcuTek reflash, which prevents that from happening. Cobb AccessPort is also a proper solution if your mods match a Cobb-generated tuning map.

Short answer: yes, turn down the MBC if you're getting more than 16 psi, but you'll still be getting PTFB regardless.

The OLM is even harder to fine tune correctly than an MBC is in the first place. Plus, I personally wouldn't expect the ECU to be properly mapped for the early open loop. It's still a hacked solution that is much better resolved with a reflash.

What gave you the idea that the OLM is hard to fine tune... or even requires any tuning at all for that matter? In fact the OLM is a passive device with no user adjustable parameters at all and works just fine with most MBC's. Also, FYI, the stock fuel map is mapped just fine from very low load up to full load through all RPM's and runs appropriate a/f levels for widely varying boost levels in open loop. It may not be as advanced of a solution as a reflash, but its much cheaper and does allow one to safely and smoothly run an MBC with the stock ECU.

Hey guys... the 04-05 OLM poses a completely different challenge than the 02/03. For the 02/03 ECU, spoofing the TPS signal makes it possible to force the ECU into OL instantly. This is not so for the 04/05 ECU's since it has the long dellay. I have a couple of ideas, however, but it'll take a little experimentation to figure it out, but there's still hope.
