Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

18g Models?

I'm looking at putting the Forced Performance 18g turbo into my '02 wrx sedan.

I took a look today at the FP website, and I see 3 models:

Mitsubishi 18G-5H Turbo
Mitsubishi 18G-6 Turbo
Starion/Conquest 18G Turbo

Are these the 18g's I'm looking for? If so, what is the difference between each of them? I've e-mailed FP with this question, but wanted to see if anyone here knew.

Pardon my ignorance, but could somebody toss me a link to FP's website? Thanks in advance!

I was wondering about the fitment issues.....thanks!

They do have an 18g that will bolt up, you just have to write or call them. Greddy also has an 18g that is bolt on. To fit the turbos you mentioned you would need a custom up/down pipe.

So my TurboXS up/downpipes won't work?? If not, where could I get these "custom" pipes?

Your current uppipe and turbo back will bolt up if your select the appropriate 18g for your application. A friend just installed his Forced Performance 18g a few weeks ago on his WRX and bolted up the same exhaust that he used with the previous stock TD04 turbo.

One other mention - make certain the stainless braided oil feed line supplied for the Forced Performance 18g is fully assembled before installation into the block and the turbo. You can't tell by looking at it. This line may ship out only hand-assembled and will leak oil at the both ends where the two hex fittings meet (not the fittings that screw into the block and turbo). Once the 18g is installed in the car you will not be able to reach the turbo end of the line to tighten the fitting.

Like Wingless Wonder was saying, they DO have an 18g that will bolt on, I was just saying that the particular app's you mentioned won't bolt on. Just give them a call, the guys at FP are super cool. Here's a thread I made a while back, you can take a look at the turbo itself.

(it's the greddy, but they look about the same)
