05 Fuel filter question

So I went to replace my fuel filter today and found out that I don't need to, you just replace the entire fuel pump at around 100k. I was planning on just replacing the pump with a Walbro at that point but will I still have to replace the entire pump with and oem unit to get the filter and everything with it or does the Walbro unit come with a built in filter? Thanks
Charlie

check out www.jscspeed.com...(alot of other goodies on that website for subies!!!!!)i just got one of these pumps they come with the pump ECU harness and a strainer..if you are are referring to a fuel filter then no the kit does not come with the filter.

just to let you know the walbros make a good bit more noise then the oem pumps do...i just found that out lol

Thanks, that link helped. I had looked up the pump on a couple sites but none had the info. The JSC site has it though. Thanks again

I could be wrong but I do believe the OEM filter is replaceable and should be done sooner than 100k miles. There was recently a post in here about it where filters were found to be really dirty after only 30k miles. I think the thought on it is if you are going to spend the time and labor to replace the filter you should drop the extra dough and just get a new pump and filter.

I started out going to the parts store and the guy there said he called Subaru and they said you just replace the whole thing. Then I went to the Subaru dealership to see if they sold a filter by itself and pick up some other stuff and the guy there said you just replace the entire unit at 100k. I had always thought that they needed to be replaced sooner but thats what I heard from the dealership so thats what I'm going on right now. I haven't been able to find an in tank filter at any of the places I tried so I'm not even sure if they make it alone. Thanks for all the replys

the intank filter is to be replaced in 60k intervals. the engine bay ones are every 30k.

05+ LGT is a little screen which does not need to be replaced.

*we have all in stock

hope this helps

Thanks for all your responses, I'm getting one from LIC. I do have a new question though. If I were to mount an inline filter in the engine bay, can I remove the Fuel damper valve or do I need to mount the filter inline with that? Thanks again

I guess i should of clarified this before i said anything

what is production date of your car?

if its between 01/05 to 05/05 then it takes the intank fuel filter like i mentioned...anything beyond that on the WRX model then takes a different one..well not a different one but different part number same part LOL

also sent you a PM
