hey.. just installed my vf30 on my 04 wagon. so far i have only godspeed uppipe and a helix bellmouth downpipe. stock exhaust, stock intake box with snorkel. i have no supporting mods yet. im boosting 14 psi.. is this a safe thing to do while i wait for my other parts? and also should i expect gains already and power difference from stock? i know my wagon is heavy but should i expect more power from my vf30 or will it all come together with supporting mods and tuning? newbie with subarus so i need all possible feedbak... thanks.... joey

and why would you slap on a vf30 without supporting mods and EM?

The VF30 has more airflow at a given PSI, you'll be stretching your fuel system to it's furthest extent just to keep it from blowing up. I bet your EGTs are through the roof and you're in full knock retard yet still get some knock if you already installed it. You need bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, and some sort of engine management not only to get the most out of the turbo, but to keep from blowing your engine to bits.
I don't know if this helps at all, but I am on the same boat as you. I just bought an 02 wrx wagon with similar setup but w/ some EM, injectors, exhaust, etc. Here is my setup for an idea for you:
VF30, Helix bellmouth downpipe, Helix uppipe, STI Pinks, 3" turbo back w/ HKS Hyper catback, stock intake box w/out snorkel, and Cobb AP running 2.5 on 91oct. Not installed, and in garage is Gruppe-S headers. Oh yeah I do have upgraded fuel pump too...
I think that is it, so far from what I can tell it is very strong setup and I am very pleased with it.
