OBD2 issues on an 04 wrx???

The circuit does not read resistor readings, it reads voltages. Changing resistor values will change the voltage being read.

If you have looked around you would know that a way to solve many CEL problems is to use a resistor such that you are tricking the ECU to reading a value that it is expecting.

What do you mean by tapping into the ECU? Do you mean reading the fuel maps?
