Question about WRX STI Tactrix 1.3 OBD2 Flash Cable

Howzit everyone.

I have a 2003 WRX with a JDM STI version 8 swap. Its the twinscroll ej207. My question is about the WRX STI Tactrix 1.3 OBD2 Flash Cable. I plan to tune my ECU with open source RR and don't know if the WRX error will effect me or not.

If any of you have done the v8 JDM swap, its pretty much plug and play. The engine harness plugs into the wrx harness (after moving a few pins around), and the wrx tumble valve wires I reused to hook up the AVCS.

The JDM ECU plugs right into the wrx harness, and after moving some pins to get the tumble valve wires working as AVCS wires, everything works great.

Now I want to tune my 16bit JDM STI v8 ECU, and I was hoping someone with the same setup as me can tell me whether or not the WRX STI Tactrix 1.3 OBD2 Flash Cable will work before I buy it.

Mahalo!

P.S. If your gonna flame, have something constructive to say, otherwise my feelings might get hurt. LOL......

Yay for another JDM STi swap
Yes a genuine tactrix 1.3 will work.

Although it looks like the ebay one in your link is a 3rd party copy of the original tactrix cable and has problems flashing to a 2003 ecu as stated in the seller description.
A Version 8 ECU can be either 2003 or 2004 so you are taking a chance whether this 3rd party cable will work or not.

The newer V2.0 tactrix has additional features that support standalone datalogging and CAN flashing for 2007+ cars.

Yep, welcome to the jdm club! Your cable will work fine. Who are you tuning with? Or are you doing it yourself?

We should get Clark Turner to come out to Hawaii for a round of JDM tunes =p

Thanks guys. I'll email (ebay message) busted finger again. I'm gonna tune it myself. I like doing as much as I can myself. I'm kinda independant that way. LoL...

So, if my ECU is a 2004 v8 then that cable will work? I'm small kind poor, so trying to get the cable as cheap as possible, but not at the risk of it not working! Hmmm.........

Thanks for the offer! But, I'm gonna be learning as I go, so this tuning project is gonna be kinda slow. LoL...

Probaly best if I had my own.

Thanks for all the advise guys. Sounds like the one on ebay from busted finger will work. I'm probably get that one.

Mahalo!
