Question question: combine satellite and cable internet on one cable outlet?

I have directv for television and comcast cable for my internet service. My dilema is that the room I have my cable modem in only has one cable outlet. I want to put a TV in that room now and watch directTV. Is there a way to combine the signals (directv + comcast internet) onto the one cable and then demux them in the room out to the receiver and the cable modem?

If i can't do this, I guess I'll just have to switch to DSL to free up the cable outlet or move the modem another room and setup a wireless bridge. I suppose I can run more coax, but I'm too lazy. Any other ideas?

hmmm... interesting question.

cable internet is around the 600-900mhz, IIRC.

dont know what direc tv is...

if i were you, go wireless. it's cheap and well... simple to setup.

unless you live in donald trump sized home, i cant see how 802.11g cant be seen throughout...

FWIW, the only joiner/combiner i see for directv is uhf/vhf plus itself...

Car Info: '03 WRX wagon, faster than walkin'
I don't think it's a problem - Contact Comcast and ask, they offered to do this for me when I switched from Cable TV to Dish Network. I chose to go to DSL because they wanted $60/month for Comcast Internet, which was much faster than my current DSL.

The note above about using wireless unless you have Trump size house though isn't accurate in my experiance. Wireless G has a much shorter range than Wireless B due to the higher bandwidth. The real problem though isn't speed it's range due to background radiation (noise). Depending on the noise floor in your home, it can drastically affect range and signal quality.

then get the PRE-N that claims to double to quadriple the range of b/g...

granted the specs are fully finalized yet, but if range is the issue... i'd go for that.

or maybe add a repeater or maybe a high gain antenna...
