looking for more power

Hey new here to all this, have a 95 impreza awd w/1.8 std trans wondering if there is anything I can do with it (the 1.8) or do I need to swap out to a 2.2 ,2.0 or a .25 what are my options with the 1.8, After all is said & done with swaping out a engine and its not obd2 compatable either, I dont know if that is for or against me any Ideas would really help before I get too attached to this one,For I can always build another

boost is your friend and is awaiting to meet you. I have a 97 imp obs that had a 2.2 in it. I recently put a 1.8 in it with a tdo4 and fmic. it is so much faster than my friends 93L with the 1.8. I also put an emanage in it but just waiting for a tune. I also did all the work myself and it really didn't take that long.
