Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Question More Response or More High-End power??

I'm debating right now whether to go with a more responsive car that'll have pretty decent high end, but really good mid range power, OR.... go ***** out high end....
I'd like to do a lot of track racing this year, both drag and road course, so bigger turbo is tempting, but i dont want incrediable lag during corners on a smaller course or any tight corners.....

ANY THOUGHTS??

well since you've neglected to include make, model, year, trim level, and current mods, nobody can help you.

the tranny on a wrx doesn't really support being a top end monster. Stick to the car's strengths. Quick spool, mid range power. Kill everyone down low.

+1 for midrange and driveability.

well, i'll basically have a sti in an 03 wrx shell. i have the 6-spd, the motor and the heads. there are some other upgrades which i will list later on but they're supporting mods that'll help spool and response. but i'm just debating btw turbo sizes. i'm thinking about going for mid range, but that top end is tempting too right until i think about the extra CHP that's going around on 280 and 101 now days.....

well if you go for all out top end, daily driveability will suffer. personally, I prefer a car that's strong throughout the rev range, while it may not have the top speed or high end power, jumping on the throttle at 2500 rpm will be more rewarding
