Here's Shiv's (Vishnu Performance) take on intakes and I agree with it. I saw an air/fuel ratio plotted graph of a car being tuned by Shiv on 01-Mar-2003. There was a power loss. He was able to compensate for it, but the modified intake was causing MAF misreadings.
Still, it's your car and your money. Lots of people (though mainly Hondas, I guess) run cold air intakes and short rams because they look and sound trick.
EDIT: For $125 to $160, you might consider either the Samco or Vishnu intercooler hose kit. They add 5 to 8 horsepower, with no MAF misreadings or other problems. They come in different colors, too.

yeah.....i heard they'll lean things out.......i'm asking cause i'm putting some stuff together right now. i'm going to order a UTEC, a prodrive axle back pipe, and possibly a downpipe at the end of next week (payday) i wanted to get some ideas from people before i start ordering stuff. my first bit of bizz will be getting the utec in and setting it up.......and from there i can start doing a bit at a time. from talking to a lot of people they said first and foremost i should have a UTEC or something of the same sort so i can adjust fuel ratios and stuff like that. so i'll start there for now....if you guys have any other suggestions feel free to bark them out!!!! thanks, riggs
