what does an egt guage do and stand for thanks.

Car Info: i drive a beater

EGT = Exhaust Gas Temperature.

It allows you to monitor the heat of your exhaust. Someone that knows what they're doing can use this information to diagnose engine troubles.

EGT = exhaust gas temperature

and it does exactly that, measure exhaust gas temperatures
