uni-chips

Uni-chip is coming out with a plug and play model, that has valet mode. I still use it because I can tune them.

It's a zero map, takes the car back to stock without having to unplug it. There are 100's of combinations why a cell light could be triggered.

I'm debating between AccessECU and unichip. I like the idea of unplugging the unichip when you take the car to service. I'm still trying to decide since everyone has been selling their unichips for something better. I just don't want to spend over $500

To anyone!

I have got a UNI-chip for sale!! It is a TurboXS unit for a 02 WRX that was custom tuned by Vishnu for California 91 Octane. So it is all Plug and Play! I have a Vushnu boost controller that will go with it. I had the following mods when it was tuned.

VF-30
STI Injectors
Samco Hoses
Vishnu Up-pipe
3" turbo back with one cat.
snorkelectomy with K&N
16.5 psi--234 WHP on Vishnu's Dyno

Thanks Super

Make sure you have IDENTICAL mods to a person if you buy second hand ECUs, piggybacks, etc. Even one change can cause your car to have dead spots, power loss, or worst of all, dangerously lean or knock-prone conditions.

I 2nd that. I had a Unichip, and after all the hassles I went through with it, selling it for a loss and buying a reflash (Cobb) was DEFINITELY worth it. As far as I am concerned (and this is solely my opinion based on my results) Unichip is an older technology that was VERY good for its day, but has now been surpassed by equally inexpensive and far more reliable reflash technology.

You can get a reflash for a little over $400 or spend 2-300 for a unichip and get far more reliable results for your extra $100.

PM me for details if you'd like.

Unichip in action

My Unichip w/ a Vishnu Stage 0 kit has only gone "ck engine" on me twice in over a year. What are other symptoms of problems?

I still gots one with my VS2. Had it for about 2 years now (ever since my VS0).

Sometimes, when it is real cold (whatever that means in SoCal), and I don't warm up the car before going, I will get various combos of missfire CELs. I have that do-dad to clear them, so it's no big.

What do-dad to clear them? I just disconnect the battery which of course requires a radio reset.

Autozone occasionally has them on sale. It's like $120 and comes with a book to decipher the codes. It is an OBDII reader/scanner. Works with all cars. That way, I can monitor which cylinders misfire (or supposedly misfires), or when I get other CELs.

I got on of those from Kragen on sale and it wouldn't do anything I really wanted. It said call the manufacturer for an upgrade and it turned out that it was a whole different tool which cost $400. I have Pocket Logger for my Palm, but have run into a few problems getting it to work.
