91 gasoline and ecu
does anyone know is there anyway that we can do taht we dont have to put 91 graded gas into the car, because the price for premium hella expensive espically in wide rural area. and is it true that if you change ecu or somthing you could use cheaper octagone gas?

Hi, calvinahhh88. Using forum Search feature and keyword 'octane', I found this recent thread entitled "What would be the downfall of using 87 octane in a WRX?"
It may be possible to get a custom tuned reflash or other engine management to allow the car to run safely on 87 octane but you would not like it. Both the ignition timing and boost would be so restricted that the car would be a changed beast and no fun to drive at all. Fuel economy would not be much different, either.
If the price of premium gasoline is a very big concern to your wallet, you might consider trading in the WRX or getting an economical second car. Subaru turbocharged vehicles will never be as fuel efficient as some other Japanese vehicles.
