under 25 years old dont deserve STi.
I know a bunch of guys around 16, 17, 18 and they all have their own beamers or mercedies or escalades (damned rich neighborhood) They were all shocked when I drove up in my "import" '03 WRX. They asked why my parents didn't get me something good. I told them that unlike them i bought my own car with money i had earned. You will get more respect and you will take better care of it. When something you got from your parents is cool you don't care it's not your money. Shock everyone and be classy.

I consider myself lucky to have an L. Now lemme ask everyone a Q if i were to pay for half of the car and the rents paid the rest and i later had to pay them back would you consider this a self bought car or parents bought or a combination?
just curious cause many call me spoiled.

JEEZ what a brat! How NOBLE of you to take a WRX at age 20, handed off to you by your sucker parents!
When I was 20 I had an inherited Ford Pinto, worth $200 but for which I sank $600/year into to keep it running. I earned the bucks and traded it in for the best car I could get a Tercel hatchback, which had NO mechanical problems for the 8 years I owned it while going to school.
And poor widdle boy has to struggle along with a mere WRX?
When I turned in my Pinto I had to trade it in at the dealer because while I was at the Toyota dealer it rained, and I knew full well that my Pimpo wouldn't start if it rained. Buying that Tercel was the only prospect for getting home that evening.
My g/f was very impressed. Not.

You may feel like you're scamming someone, and your lesson in life will be how to be an ever bigger scammer. You'll be a lesser person for it. You'll NEVER really enjoy that which is given to you, no matter how much you rationalize it.
My parents are both dead now, but I can live very well with the fact that I never scammed them or guilted them out over anything as big as a car. I hope that when your parents pass on, Humper, you'll feel at peace as much as I do about it.

hahaha i cant believe i started this thread, i just wanted to post my thoughts about me not getting and STi because i finally realized and accepted that my mom wasnt gona buy me that car because it was $35,000,
i dont make money im 20, and my mom is rich so she wants to get me a ok car for $25,000, because about $11,000-$7000 is A LOT of money difference. i totally agree with u snohumper. and JJL33
and besides im so glad the WRX is about $25,000 because its so much cheaper than beamers and audis that i giggle with delight everytime i see a 1.8T, VR6 or 323 or some audi because the WRX is way more worth it. AWD 227hp with turbo. HORIZONTALLY opposed 4 cylinder __ __
__ __ very sPECIAL design.

Sevielle,
I don't know where you got the idea that I'm "scamming" my father. I'm not mad at him for working too much and not seeing me or whatever I'm rarely home myself anyways. I accept the fact that he is very into his work and it takes up a lot of time. In fact, I strongly support him because his success is finally satisfying him. My dad brought up the idea of me getting a new car. I was perfectly pleased with my '99 jetta (it wasn't as fun as WRX tho
) but he still insisted I get a new car, and I get to choose this time. Seeing how a WRX was such a good deal, and it was 15k less than my older bro and younger sis's cars, I asked my dad if we could go test drive one. My dad can't drive stick to well he burnt the clutch a few times on the test drive hehehehehe.. He ended up buyin me a WRX. Cool eh?
Why do people always feel the need to talk trash about people on the internet? Someone always has to be better or stronger or faster. Y'all need to just chill tha hell out. We are all here for tha love of Subaru's.. right?

My parents have given me a lot, not an STi, but a 98 L that was new at the time. I appreciate everything they do for me, and I remind them that I'll be returning the favor by taking care of them when they're too old to take care of themselves. And for you old, bitter guys who rag on the young guys who have been given cars: Remember that what goes around comes around, they'll have kids someday

all this thread is is young verse old im young and would have to take the side of why wouldnt we deserve it. nobody has paid for everything throughout their lives you older people your parents bought you clothes and toys and such. well cars are the new toys of today. why would you look down on a person who recieved a car from their parents? Because yours was "hard earned" who cares they have one and you have one theres just different ways to get 'em. I also like the term privaleged (however you spell it) rather than spoiled.

What happens when both parents use both their cars constantly, and junior needs to go off to work and school and stuff like that on his own too? Thats why I got a car from my parents, not out of deservation but out of neccesity.
In exchange for the fact that they are my parents in the first place, ive gotten great grades even through college and paid back most of my car insurance and other car related fees (other than the occasional mechanical disaster) and work remedial summer jobs too.
Heck the only reason I have an Impreza now was I asked if I could learn how to drive a manual tranny and figured out a way to afford to do it without having to spend bookoo buckaroo's.
If you have a problem with any of this, get the heck off the club and kiss my ***.
