it's good that you will appreciate what a nice car you mom bought you instead of whining about why your mom wont buy a nicer one. for me when my parents helped me out on my first car i purposely bought a used slow car so that when i get a nice car later on myself i'll know how to appreciate it. now i'm 22 and i've got myself a wrx with my own money a few months ago. i enjoyed it everyday and i still look out the window from my house to see my car every so often. and a spolied friend of mine he just complain about his new $60000 M3 not fast enough and is waiting for his new EVO to arrive within a month.

i am not complaining, hopefully u guys know what im t rying to say, yes im extremely lucky im getting a new car although its not an STi, im still very greatful, but my point is that the more expensive the car bought for such a young person, its in a way not worthy, because i was thinking,
if i was a father, and i had more than enough money to buy a car for my son.. id buy him an ok car. not the top of the line because if he gets in an accident, it would b so sad.
and i didnt mean buy your own sti as in loook at me im buying my own car too. i really mean that the aura and karma surrounding the STi and owner, bought by the parents cash would be much different compared to the aura and karma bought with ones own money.

You may not consider yourself spoiled when compared to your friends or a select group of people, but from a wider perspective, you most definitely are... admit it.
Awwwwwww fu*k it, GO ECONOMY!
when i was 16 i bought my first brand new truck, by myself......i am now 20 and i bought my new wrx by myself............i could have bought an sti, and more then afforded it, but i feel i wanna slowly upgrade so when im older i have something to look forward to. [plus i dont like the look of the sti] my parents bought my little sister her car, and im sure they would have bought mine, but when i look at it im soo glad i didnt.....she is now 19 and knows no responsibility and has learned nothing about money....

I think parents buying their kids cars is bull****. All the kids that I know that get cars bought for them squander their money like it is going out of style. I am 22 and I bought my first car, a 1965 dodge dart, that didn't run. My dad and I fixed it up, with my money, and now it runs. I am almost done with school which is when I will get my WRX. I think that people that don't have the means to buy a 25k car should not have a 25k car. And I agree with everyone else in the fact that you say you are not spoiled. Getting 25k from your parents is spoiled no matter how you look at it. My parents have far more than enough money to buy me a car, but I would never ask, or even accept it if they offered. I think co-signing is fine, but you should earn your keep, not be handed everything. They are probably paying for your school, and your housing, and your insurance, and your gas, and any mods you make to the car. I am sorry but I would feel sh*tty if I let my parents buy me a 25k car.

19 and 20 year olds able to throw money at a STI? Geez, I was trying to put myself thru college at that age barely making enough to keep gas in the tank and change the oil let alone buy a 30,000+ car. Hell, if I had any sort of repairs needed on my car at that time I would have been riding a bike thru the rest of my college years.
4 years later after leaving college and having a steady job, I still have to sit down and haggle with my local dealer to get the monthly payments on a 03 WRX down to something I can afford which hasn't happened yet!
If there is any secret to have that kind of money, I want to know!

You guys are pretty harsh on this guy. First of all, I think a 20 year old college student is a lot more mature than a 16, 17 year old high school student. High school is just loaded with too much peer pressure and too much of a need to look cool. Most ppl in my opinion get the stupid stuff out of their system in high school (i.e. crash while racing your friend......oh the memories). After 2 years of college there shouldn't be the peer pressure and kids could think for themselves more.
I wouldn't say that you're spoiled...such a nasty, jealous word, but I would say that you are well taken care of. Its nothing to be ashamed of, and don't apologies to anybody about it. Just be very thankful, and take good care of your parents....buy them a car or send them on a nice vacation when you make it big to say thanks. If I had a kid, I would much rather buy them a new car (something practical and not expensive of course), then watch them save their hard earned money, and blow it all on a 30k dollar STI. This is not teaching your kid financial responsibility, this is telling him its ok to be an idiot, and that I hope you have fun setting yourself back in life by a good 5 years. So many more important priorities in life.
Last but not least, get the wagon- you'll need the space as you progress through your 20's.

My car was free.
I pay for everything else excluding massive mechanical falures repaired at expensive shops despite my request to do it myself for considerably less...
And no, my car didnt cost $30,000, $25,000 or heck even $10,000... So sue me.

Stop hating on this guy! I have a lot of respect for people who buy their own cars with their own money, but don't trash this guy just because his parents happened to have enough money as well as the heart to get him a car. If you were all his age again, I'm sure that if you could choose paying for your own car or having your parents pay for your car, I know what your choice would be, and DON'T LIE! Don't give me that crap like, "It taught me responsibility..." Sure, maybe it did, but don't act like you would want to drop $25k of your own money instead in a second. And I know that had your parents bought you a car in the past, you'd all be singing a different tune.
And who knows, maybe this kid gets straight A's, works, and is on scholarship, so his parents have the extra dough. Stop sh1tting on him, and just welcome him as a new WRX owner.
