Honestly all 3 haha.
I don't wanna buy a few things and realize I need more, because I'm on a limited budget.
Install would be pretty tough and I don't have much time maybe In the future

Also is your car slower in a straight line? I've heard these make slower acceleration times. I don't care about top speed I don't need to go over 140 haha

This is the man! I talked to him when i was deciding on my JDM ver7 6-speed.

Keep in mind different years and versions dont aways fit. Male and female axles are flipped around in the 04 wrx's?- 05+? To be shure youll just need everything.

Trans, shifter linkage, axles, hubs, driveshaft, r180 rear diff, get rear brembos, and i think thats pretty much it. Get your clutch and flywheel combo too.

You will also need to add knuckles and hubs along with the brembo brakes. It's not a difficult job as long as you have all the tools and a garage to work in. Spend the money and rent a tranny jack.

Go for the 6-speed. You do it once and done. Messing with 09+ wrx gears or RA gears or LGT gears or some random gear build is just beating around the bush.

I am going to second that motion of doing the 6 speed. There are people that have done RA and it worked and it was great. There are also a lot of people that spent the money for the 6 speed on RA gears and rebuild just to have it blow.

I am a piece of mind guy and that is why I went with the 6 speed.

Is there a rush because your car is not running? If so get a cheap 5 speed to get you around for awhile.

Get it piece by piece as you can afford it. Once you are sure you have all the right parts save up for the install and get it done.

I would hate to see you in your haste spend the money nf RA's and a rebuild which is damn near what you will need for a 6 speed swap and have it blow up on you as I am convinced it is case flex that causes the 5 speeds to blow, but that is largely debatable just my opinion.

JDM version 7 from an 04 keep your axles. R 160 from a legacy with the 3.90 gear set. Clutch, flywheel, driveshaft, companion flange and you are done.

Honestly any shop especially paul at FW should be able to source everything you need. Mike at GST held my hand in sourcing all my parts. Things got tricky on the drive shaft as they are becoming harder to find, but it went very smooth.

I just did mine a week or so ago so maybe give him a call as it is fresh in his mind.

I'm dropping my wrx off to Paul to see what he says. Either 09 gears or sti 6 speed I'll see what his personal recommendation is and go with that. Thanks guys. I don't have the cash to buy a cheap one to risk it blowing like a week after I put it In. I'm in highschool and play varsity baseball so i can't have a job as I don't have time with baseball, 4 ap and honors classes, and other things. I do tutoring guitar lessons and babysitting for extra cash but not enough to save up for a 6 speed. I will be able to do that over summer. Like I said I'll see what Paul says

I applaud you for all you are doing in school. You sound like a great kid and while I cant adopt you, you should tell your parents you deserve a 6 speed.

Haha after they bought me a 11k car...
Ya, not much help coming. I have 2 grand from my internship at the law firm I had, my dad may be willing to pay for the remainder not sure yet. Temped to post a need donations thing on here lol. If 1200 people donate a dollar, that'd help a ton lol.
But I don't wanna do that

Just start saving and make extra money on the side if it comes up. It's nice to have a engine or transmission fund with modified wrx's never know when something major can go bad

My problem is if I see a part I'll try and pick it up. I had the car and started mods and spending money without thinking about a rainy day fund. But now I have one lol
