Wrx tranny blew
Just doing some hard driving my 06 Wrx creates 22 pounds of boost and I knew the tranny would go eventually... Well it happened.
I am thinking about going to an sti 6 speed.... As its stronger and more capable.
But what would I need besides a diff? And how much will a diff run? Any help appreciated as always. Thanks guys.

But for the right price that may be the way to go...

Im getting a 6 speed done in a few weeks just bought a JDM ver 7 or 8 out of a 2004 STI.
You want to get the ver 7 or 2005 USDM or 2004 and below JDM tranny as the gear ratios are similar to the 5 speed which is great for drag racing as no granny gear for 1st. The newer trannys have a lower 1st and makes you have to shift more.
You need a reay diff out of a 2002 or earlier legacy for the same final drive of 3.90.
Im no expert, but if you need a tranny on the fast I.E. next two weeks, and on the cheap P.M. me

Going the 6 speed route.
Looking at a swap that comes with
Trans
Linkage
Mounts
R180
Front axels
Kart boy short shifter
Driveshaft
What else would I need besides the rear axels?

There is a thread on nasioc you should read, it lays it out showing exactly what you will need. I had an 06 that I swapped in a 04 STi drivetrane. You will also need to add knuckles and hubs along with the brembo brakes. It's not a difficult job as long as you have all the tools and a garage to work in. Spend the money and rent a tranny jack.

No need for the Brembos or the r180. I did mine with a v7 jdm you want a tranny with female diff in the front. That will accept your axles. For the rear diff you will need one geared at 3.90 like in the legacy. I got mine pretty cheap. Then you need sti clutch and flywheel and drive shaft then viola you're Cookin with crisco.

Final list comes to this for swap
Driveshaft
Transmission
Clutch and flywheel
The trans has the 3.9 so my axels will work...
That's all I need for this swap.
Going in my 06 wrx tr, from an 05 Sti.

Let us know what the pricing is! I'm interested to know. I've been thinking about doing a tranny swap, but I figure that since my car is almost coming up to the 90K mark, I may just wait until I buy a new car!
