Will '08 6 Spd fit older STI's?

Hey All,
Does anybody know the following answer. I have read that the '08 STI tranny has triple synchro's on every gear making for a really smooth up/down shift process. My '04 I believe only had double synchro's on 1/2 gears and the rest were pretty much good luck. SO seeing as my 4th gear is grinding and the warranty (I bought the extended) has pretty much said your are f....d regarding repairing it so I was wondering if anybody knew if the new "improved" tranny would bolt right up to the older motor/vehicle (shafts and all). I would like to think yes, however, I am not sure. Could anybody be a beacon of light and answer this question. I mean triple synchro's on all gears has got to be better than the old tranny. I look forward to a reply.

Yes... It will work. But, you need the bellhousing off of the older STi, along with the speed sensor and the front diff (because the speed sensor is driven off of the front diff). Expect around $475 in parts if you shop around (not including the front diff).

Hopefully after 2+months this helps.

Technically, yes, the 2008 case bolts right up.
However...and this is a huge however...you're downgrading the transmission and incuring huge expense in the process.

The biggest drawback is you will no longer have a transmission with a forced fed lubrication system.

dude, for the same price of that 08 trans you could put the late model gears and syncros in yours and have an oil pump.
