Question call me retarded- 5 spd is better than 6 spd.

as some of u may know i have a wrx wagon and an sti. . . my fiance drives the wagon the majority of the time. well tonight i told her i need to drive the wagon- i forgot how much fun it is to drive a 5 speed. grant it doesn't have the same power, but its nice to hold the car in gear longer and not really have to worry about redline creeping so fast. i guess pushing through a six every day kinda made me take for granted how wonderful it is to drive the 5 speed. . .

sorry if this should be in the OT, i just thought it would be appropiate in the "lounge"

If you are sick of the six speed, I'll take it off your hands.

Well, its not like you have into 6th every day

In fact, I just kinda assumed that the 6spd would be treated like a 5spd, and you'd only need to go into 6th when you were on a track or something.

true but i shift soooo much more in 6 speed. for instance-

to save gas . .. i shift into 5th by 40 mph- the rpms hit 2 grand already- i sound like i'm complaining- im not. . . just felt good to drive the 5 speed again.

I totally agree .... I like to spend a little more time in the gears without having to worry about shifting ... more time driving, less time shifting = more fun for me =)
Damn .... a 4 speed would be sweet ... I used to drive one of those a long time ago (sigh)

Using this logic, maybe you should've gotten the 4EAT. You could spend all your time enjoying the drive and not shift gears once.

I thought the six was 5 drive and 1 overdrive gear?

and lower top speed. They said you could really feel it on the longer stages, when they knew the car had more power, but the gears ended too soon.

Nope. 6th in the STi actually has NEARLY the same ratio as 5th in the 5mt. Interesting to think about...
