Uh oh...reverse gear engaged while moving forward.
What happens when a 4EAT transmission gets put in reverse while moving forward at low speed (10-15mph). I was teaching my little sister to drive and she accidentally put it in reverse while the car was coasting down a grade. I heard a series of "click click clicks". But afterwards the car seemed to be able to go into reverse again ok. Scared the crap outta me though. Do you guys think there's any damage done to the tranny/diffs?

well i think as long as no grindirinidnrindin noise was made to really scare u i think it is ok. I used to drive a auto civic and i used to do crazy things all the time. i think you would have known if somehting was wrong

If it drives ok, I wouldn't worry about it. My friend used to always change gears while parking, provided that it's not 15mph, but you get the point.. He never waited for the car to stop and nothing negative happened to his transmission. Unless strange things start happening, you probably don't have to worry about it.

When I had my maxima I put it in reverse driving at around 35 mph. What happened was my car shut off, no grinding. I put it in neutral without stopping started it and it ran fine. I would think that if a 1990 Maxima had a safety mechanism then a 2002/2003 Subaru would have something also. Since it went into reverse with no grinding/weird noise it should be ok.
