transmission rebuild time!

Okay guys I blew up my 02 WRX transmission racing my little brother the other day, I had about 130K miles on it. Anyways I'm planning on rebuilding it and wondering what people have done. I did a some research and found people are beefing up the transmission.. I just want some feed back on what I should do to it? How much people are buying parts for, what parts, and the experience they had with them.. I want to be able to run 1/4 and road race. Thanks

...why do you have an upgraded fuel pump? Are you planning on running a bigger turbo? depending on what you actually broke in the tranny, I'd look into RA gears. Or swap in an STi drivetrain and sell your other stuff to someone for cheap (like to me )

Yup that's right, I'm planning on running a bigger turbo right after the transmission gets fix.. Also I pick it up brand new for $30.00..

since you already have the tranny out you might as well throw some ra gears in there. cause if you are gonna upgrade the turbo ull need them! i have been going through the same ****, ive blown my tranny 3 times and its just not worth putting it back to stock!

From Gruppe-S web pages:
STI RA version 6 gears
Do you need to hold more power put cannot afford the STI 6-speed transmission? Don't want the inconveniences of a dog-box or the price? Looking for a more track friendly gear ratio? Then our STI RA gear-set is the perfect solution for you!

The STI RA V6 gears are a found in the rally-bred Version 6 Impreza STI RA and is designed to be a much beefier swap for your WRX 5-speed transmission. The thicker gear teeth as well as the inherently stronger gears and shaft are a perfect solution for customers looking for gear-sets that will hold more power. For further strengthening all gear-sets are CRYOGENICALLY TREATED.

We recommend these gear-sets for customers looking for gear-sets to hold 275-350awhp. For higher power levels we would recommend either a STI 6-speed tranny or a synchroless dog-box.

All gearset kits include STI RA Gears 1-5, main shaft, properly matched speed-o gear, and shifter fork. Please see our bearing and synchro sections for a complete rebuild kit. Rebuild time is generally 5-6 hours of bench time (not including removal & installation) and if your transmission is damaged will usually require new bearings and synchros.

Gear Ratios:
First Gear 3.083
Second Gear 2.062
Third Gear 1.545
Fourth Gear 1.151
Fifth Gear 0.825

STI RA Special Edition version 6 gears
Do you want to have better acceleration and save gas? Looking for the best of both worlds? Then our STI RA (Special Edition) gear-set is the perfect solution for you!

The STI RA (Special Edition) V6 gears are a great upgrade for guys that want to keep the stock 5th gear, but still have a shorter ratio down low. 4th and 5th gear ratios are retained, which allows for a smoother transition to 5th (instead of the grinding when you just leave the stock WRX 5th gear in).

All gearset kits include STI RA Gears 1-4, main shaft, properly matched speed-o gear, shifter fork, and adapter components. Please see our bearing and synchro sections for a complete rebuild kit. Rebuild time is generally 5-6 hours of bench time (not including removal & installation) and if your transmission is damaged will usually require new bearings and synchros.

Gear Ratios:
First Gear 3.166
Second Gear 1.882
Third Gear 1.296
Fourth Gear 0.972
Fifth Gear 0.738

Compared to Stock WRX:
First Gear 3.454
Second Gear 1.947
Third Gear 1.366
Fourth Gear 0.972
Fifth Gear 0.738

Smile RA Gear set

Just had an Ra Spec C gear set installed in my 04 WRX, with all new bearings, all new synchros, and a new ACT clutch. I am at stage 2 and what I can say is the Ra gear set is a big improvement over stock. I have chunked 2nd gear once and 3rd gear once and I am tired of OEM transmission parts. We all know stock WRX tranny's up to 2005 or 2006 suck!!! Total cost of parts and install = $3500. Yeah that hurt but at least I know I have a transmission that will not let me down. Knock on wood!!! Just my input and hope this helps.
